Posted: Friday, February 29th, 2008 by marcus

Anyone using Windows and IE7 knows how annoying all of those SharePoint prompts are. Below is a list of steps that you can take to make most of the prompts go away…

  • From Internet Explorer, click on Tools –> Internet Options
  • Click on the Security tab
  • Highlight Local Intranet and then click on the Sites button
  • Uncheck the “Automatically detect intranet network” option and click on the Advanced button
  • Uncheck the “Require server verification (https: ) for all sites in this zone” option
  • Add the following sites to this zone:
  • Click Close
  • Click OK
  • Click OK

Interesting. But is there a way to disable the username and password re-prompt when opening an office doc from a sharepoint portal site (WSS 3.0)?

    2. Tom says:

Yes, these same instructions will work with WSS.

Is your computer a member of the same domain as the WSS server?
